Wednesday Morning Hot Links

The start of this post is going to be a bit of an update to tell you a bit about what is going on here on this site. @AstrosCounty will be starting school soon since he's a teacher and he sent me a direct message via Twitter to ask if I (Flick) would like to take over a couple days a week to cut down on the work load now that I've gotten my feet wet in doing these for the blog. Obviously, I said yes (or else I wouldn't be typing this right now). He has been doing these every day for YEARS and it's only fair that he finally gets to ease up a little bit on doing these and have some extra time to devote to his work and some extra time just to himself. Plus, I am a college student so I have some extra time in between classes that I can dedicate to make sure that Hot Links will still go up.

Now I know what you might be thinking.
#1: When will you do Hot Links? - As of right now, I will do them every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. When my semester starts up, it may go down to just Monday and Wednesday mornings, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.
#2: Are you actually going to get your Hot Links up at a reasonable hour? - Yes. I work nights. My classes are mostly afternoon/nights, so I do not wake up when the clock reads "a.m." That is why my hot links did not go up at the time they normally do. I can fix that. The new plan is that I will create these Hot Links after I get home from work and post them before I go to sleep (around 2-3 a.m. CST). That way, Hot Links for the day will be up at whatever unruly hour you have to wake up at.

Well, this intro has gone on long enough. Let's get get crackin' on these Hot Links.

In case you fell asleep last night or you decided to do the "responsible" thing and go to sleep early so you "do your job well", the Astros had a huge 10th inning for a 8-2 route of the Rox. This moves Houston 6 games ahead of Seattle and 7.5 ahead of Oakland.

Part of the 10th inning rally was Kyle Tucker, as he claims that his big 10th inning triple "is a huge confidence boost." Hopefully so. A lot of people seem to be upset at his current performance, but remember, Alex Bregman started 2-38 in his MLB debut, and he turned out pretty okay. It's far too early to give up on this guy now.

Another piece of noteworthy news from last night's game. Joe Smith was good again. At one point in late April, Joe had a 9.72 ERA. Since the beginning of May, Smith has given up 2 earned runs in 3 months, and he has lowered his ERA to almost under 4.

AJ Hinch doesn't seem to be too keen on the NL "No-DH" rule, like most of us.

Carlos Correa is swinging a bat again and he's feeling sexy.

Alex Bregman will try to add another trophy to his collection as he is the Astros nominee for the MLB Heart and Hustle Award. George Springer was the nominee for the last 2 years.

Speaking of Alex Bregman, here is a hilarious-since-it-didn't-happen-but-terrifying-to-think-it-could-have-happened story on The Athletic about how he almost ended up on the Rangers ($).

Here is a quick interview with Gerrit Cole's old little league coach talking about what he's doing right.

The Houston Astros currently have the best odds to win the World Series.

Good news everyone! Since you had sex because your sports team won a trophy, you can pick up some free stuff Thursday.

Dennis Liborio has passed away after losing the fight to Alzheimer's Disease. Rest in peace.

Zach Britton has been traded to the Yankees for their 9th and 15th ranked prospects. Here's hoping this doesn't come back to bite us.

Austin Gomber had a no-hitter going but then a fire alarm went off and he blew it immediately after.

The Mets have had a bad year. Nothing was gone right. The only maybe fun thing they could possibly pull off would be to give Tebow a shot in the MLB right? After all, they would sell thousands of jerseys, people would fill the seats, social media would be abuzz. Unfortunately, this will not be the year.

L.J. Hoes is back! Thank you Baltimore!

Houston is the most stressed state in Texas, which makes sense because Houston is the only sports city in Texas that's actually winning anything! *bows*

I am honored to announce that Elon Musk has seen sci-fi movies.

Okay so people are being told in Europe to properly dispose of their excess alcohol because the seagulls are getting absolutely sloshed.

So these are my links for today. And remember, if you didn't like them, its County's fault for letting me do this so you need to take all complaints to him okay? okay.
