The San Fransisco Giants stopped in for a quick bout of inter-league play so this will be a quick recap.
Game 1- Cole vs Suarez
Gerrit Cole reached 100 strikeouts on the season when he got Andrew McCutchen swinging on a 98mph two seamer. As the Constable said yesterday, according to SportsCenter that is the fastest a pitcher has reached 100 strikeouts since 1900. So, that's pretty good. What's not so good is Cole's brother in law Brandon Crawford, shortstop for the Giants, broke up the shutout going into the 5th with a 2 run homer. The offense did the damn thing scoring 11 runs to SF's 2. Tony "The Temp" Kemp had a 5 RBI night by way of 2 two-run singles and a sac fly. I'm gonna miss him when he gets traded.

Game 2- Verlander vs Samardzija
Justin Verlander is a machine and proof that we in the city of Houston CAN have nice things. 9 K's for the machine over 6 innings, giving up only 1 run on 3 hits. Harris and Peacock each gave up a hit and Giles came in to get his 9th save of the season. The offense wasn't as hot for game two but the Astros were able to score 4. Two of those runs came on George Springer's 10th homer of the season.
The next 11 days are going to be challenging. 4 games in Cleveland, 3 in the Bronx, 4 at home against the Red Sox. In the words of Brian Fellows "I'm excited and a little bit scared." Losses will happen and it'll be interesting to see how the fan base handles it.
