Stay tuned for the game recap, but perhaps the unlikeliest of the starters in this series against the Dodgers has just thrown a no-hitter. Mike Fiers walked three in fabulous effort in which he struck out ten. He needed a hefty 134 pitches, but he got the job done, striking out Justin Turner on a high fastball away for the final out.
This was the first Astros no hitter since the six-pitcher effort against the Yankees in June 2003 (which I happened to be at, but that is the story for another time). That no hitter also included three walks, all in the same inning. As well as a 4-strikeout frame. This game didn't have that. It was the first no hitter in MMP history, and the first no-hitter from an Astros starter since Darryl Kile in 1993.
Well done, Mike Fiers. Hearty congratulations.
