With the first pick of the 8th Round of the 2014 MLB Draft (226th overall) the Astros select CF Bobby Boyd out of West Virginia.
Boyd is a 5'9" 180lb junior who bats left and throws right, and is noted for his speed. He put up a .356/.389/.423 slash line this season with 1 HR, 24 RBI, and 18 SB in 222 AB. His batting average led the Big 12 this year, after he was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2013.
Boyd, on getting drafted by the Astros:
