With the first pick of the 25th Round of the 2014 MLB Draft (736th overall) the Astros select LHP Zach Davis out of the University of Central Missouri.
Davis is a 6'3" 220lb senior who transferred to UCM after one year at Longview Community College. This season he put up a 3-2 record with a 1.98 ERA in 25 games (41 IP) out of the bullpen, featuring 51:13 K:BB, 12 saves, and a .178 BAA. Last month, he was named Second Team All-MIAA as a reliever.
Davis actually pitched at Minute Maid Park back in February, retiring the only batter he faced to earn the save and nail down a 3-2 win for UCM over Winona State.
