With the first pick of the 23rd Round of the 2014 MLB Draft (676th overall) the Astros select RHP Ryan Thompson out of Campbell University.
Thompson is a 6'5" 215lb senior submarine-throwing reliever. This season, Thompson turned in a 7-2 record with a 1.33 ERA, 17 saves, 87:29 K:BB in 39 appearances (88 IP). In 2013, he was Big South Pitcher of the Year and a Louisville Slugger Second Team All-American, and in 2014 was named a finalist for the Lowe's Senior Class Award - you can read his profile and vote for him here.
