The Astros have shut down three top pitching prospects for the season: Mark Appel, Andrew Thurman, and Lance McCullers, Jr.
Appel - between Stanford, Tri-City and Quad Cities - has thrown 144.1IP. Thurman threw 100.1IP for UC-Irvine and 39.2IP at Tri-City, and remember that their seasons started back in February. McCullers threw 104.2IP for Quad Cities this season, a year after throwing 26IP between the GCL and Greeneville, and 77IP for Jesuit High School in Tampa, FL.
