Yu Darvish (11-5, 2.72) vs Brett Oberholtzer (2-0, 2.53)
Really? Are we really almost writing this story again? Yu Darvish was perfect in Houston until the 6th, had a no-hitter until the 8th, then Carlos Marwin Corporan broke it up. But too little, too late, and the Astros get swept by the Rangers with a 2-1 final. Houston falls to 1-10 in August, and 37-80 overall.
On the Mound:
*In three relief appearances with Houston, Brett Oberholtzer never posted a scoreless outing. In three starts now, this was the first time he surrendered any runs. But he was still rock solid, posting a 6.2 IP / 7 H / 2 R / 2 ER / 2 BB / 6 K line.
*How about that trusty Astros bullpen, no? 1.1 IP of one-hit, scoreless ball from Josh Fields, followed by a one-hit, scoreless 9th from Chia-Jen Lo.
At the Plate:
*Jonathan Villar got a walk in the 6th, and A.J. Pierzynski got ejected arguing about it.
*Carlos Corporan channeled his inner Marwin and hit a one-out solo homer in the 8th.
*Fin.
Turning Point:
Yu Darvish.
Man of the Match:
Brett Oberholtzer, who was on the wrong end of a steamroller today.
Goat of the Game:
Any Astro with a Bat.
