In this notes column by Brian Smith, we find a few interesting things:
-George Springer will stay with OKC at least through the end of their season at the beginning of September.
Luhnow:
It depends what our objectives are in September. We’ll know more about that as we get closer.
Springer, who has 25 homers and 28 stolen bases - on July 10 - is a lock to have the first 30-30 season in the minors since 2009 (H/T Baseball America)
-The timing may be different for Jonathan Villar - he may join the team following the trade deadline:
I think we’re all curious to see how he fits into next year’s team. And there’s really only one way to find out, and that’s to
bring him up and let him play.
-Mark Appel may see a longer stretch with Quad Cities than he did at Tri-City. Luhnow:
We expected him to do well at (Tri-City), so it’s time for us to challenge him.
