Toronto Blue Jays president Paul Beeston is giving the city of Dunedin, Florida - the Spring Training home of the Blue Jays - the cold shoulder, apparently not answering emails or returning phone calls as the Blue Jays explore Spring Training facility moves after their lease expires in 2017.
The Astros said, through attorney Giles Kibbe, that they are interested in sharing facilities with the Blue Jays, but that "it's up to the Blue Jays to decide."
Kibbe:
What we would like to do is create a spring training hub
... with five teams within this 35-mile area, where we would have an
area fans could travel to from all over the country, stay in one
location, go to multiple spring training games.
This would be, of course, close to Jim Crane's golf course and the home he is apparently about to build in Palm Beach Gardens. Interestingly enough, a spokesman for Palm Beach Gardens has indicated that "more than two teams" have shown interest in moving their Spring Training facilities to the area.
Meanwhile, everyone is denying just about everything as it relates to the topic, since everyone is still under contract.
