From a variety of sources on Twitter, Jeff Luhnow addressed the drafting of Mark Appel:
"This is not a player that we're going to rush to the major leagues. We see him as a future potential ace. He's the exact type of player we need to be adding to the organization. He makes us better. Through the scouting year we saw Mark as the pick to beat."
On discussions with Boras:
"I'm assuming it'll be a fairly straightforward discussion& he'll sign sometime this summer."
