With the 1st pick of the 25thd Round (737th overall), the Astros select 6'0" 190lb LHP Albert Minnis from Wichita State University.
Minnis was Baseball America's 7th best California Collegiate League prospect in 2013 and was an honor roll student last fall. Matt Garrioch at Minor League Ball says he throws in the upper 80's but has a good four pitch mix, which seems to include a curve, slider, and change.
As a reliever for WSU in 2013, Minnis was 3-2 with a 3.19 ERA, 64 strikeouts in 59.1 innings, and an opponents batting average of .223
