Pre Stros Morning Report April 14th

AAA

Oklahoma City (5-5)

The Redhawks fell 10-3 to the Memphis Redbirds (5-4), and are at .500 for the season. The Redhawks collected 10 hits but only one for extra bases. Jake Elmore had an RBI double that drove home Ruben Sosa and tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the 2nd. OKC would plate 2 more that inning on a Fernando Martinez ground out and a Brandon Laird single. With the score 3-1 Jimmy Paredes singled to center and Brandon Laird was thrown out trying to score, ending the inning as well as any more run production from OKC. Trevor Crowe had 3 hits and struck out once. Robbie Grossman (1R, 2BB) had two hits as did Brandon Laird (RBI). Marc Krauss had a hit and a K. Ruben Sosa (1R, 1K) also had a single. Fernando Martinez had an RBI ground out and 2k's in 3 at bats on a rehab start. Jonathan Villar came in for F Mart and went 0 for 2. Jimmy Paredes was also hitless but had a walk and his 2nd stolen base of the year.

Jordan Lyles had a solid start pitching 5 innings, allowing 2 runs, walking zero, striking out 3 and giving up one long ball.
Ross Seaton got his first blown save and a loss for allowing 7 runs in 3 innings. He struck out 1 and walked two batters. Seaton gave up a long ball as well.
Josh Zeid pitched the ninth. (2H, ER, BB)

Man of the match: Robbie Grossman. 2 hits, 2 walks, and a run scored.

AA

Corpus Christi (7-3)

The Hooks fell 6-3 to Tulsa (4-6) in a game that started as a pitching duel. There were no runs scored in the first 3 innings by either club. Tulsa would strike first in the bottom of the 4th with 2 runs followed by 1 run in the 5th and 6th before Corpus would cross the plate. In the 7th the Hooks plated 2 runs on a George Springer RBI (RBI, BB, K) and an errant throw that scored Jiovani Mier (R, RBI, BB, SO). Tulsa would match their 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th. The Hooks had the bases loaded with nobody out in the 9th but only managed 1 run. Austin Wates (BB, K, SB) and Jonathan Meyer (K) each had a hit. Carlos Perez (R) had 2 hits on the evening. Domingo Santana was 0 for 3 with a walk, a K, and a stolen base.

Nick Tropeano was tagged with his 2nd loss of the season. (5IP, 3ER, 1BB, 4K, 1HR)
Bobby Doran followed "Nitro" and pitched 3 innings. (4H, 3ER, 1B, 2SO, 1HR)

Lancaster (7-3)

The Jethawks got the win and a series split, defeating the Modesto Nuts (5-6) 6-1. MP Cokinos (2H, 2R, RBI, K) hit a solo homer in the 4th inning that scored the 1st run of the game. Modesto would score a run in the bottom of the frame to tie and the score would remain so until the Jethawks busted out in the 8th. Matt Duffy (H, R, 3RBI, BB) came to the plate with 2 on and nobody out. Duffy showed bunt and worked the count to 3-1 at which point he was given the green light. Duffy put a ball over the left field fence giving him 14RBI on the season, which leads the Jethawks. Andrew Aplin (2H, 2RBI) drove in 2 more in the 8th on a triple (2nd of the season) to right. Brandon Meredith (2H, 1R) had a double. Preston Tucker also had 2 hits on the night. Drew Muren had a hit, a walk, a K and a run scored. Delino Deshields was 0 for 2 with a K and left the game after 2 AB's. Nolan Fontana and Zach Johnson were also hitless.

Brady Rodgers got a no decision. (5IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 5SO)
Chris Devenski pitched well in 2 innings, and hits 2nd win. (4IP, 2H, 1BB, 7K).

Man of the Match: Matt Duffy.

Low A

Quad Cities (7-2)

The River Bandits defeated the Peoria Chiefs (4-5) 3 to 2. Peoria scored a run in the 1st and again in the 8th. Rio Ruiz (H, R, RBI, K, E) hit his 1st homer of the season that tied the game 1-1 in the 2nd. Quad cities would score two more in the 5th on a sac bunt by Jordan Scott (H, RBI, 2K) that scored Carlos Perdomo (2H, R, SB), and a base hit from Jesse Wierzbicki (H, RBI, K) that scored Joe Sciafani (H, R, 2BB, 2SB. E).

Vincent Velasquez earned his 2nd win of the season. (5IP, 3H, 1ER, 2BB, K)
Joe Bircher got a hold in 3 innings pitched. (3H, 1R-unearned, 2K)
John Neely got his 1st save in a scoreless 9th. (H)

Man of the match: Rio Ruiz. 1st dinger of the season.
