John Ely joins Alex White as Pitchers Who Were Acquired This Past Off-Season Who Will Also Not Pitch In 2013.
Brian Smith tweeted that Ely is out for the year, and it turns out that he needs Tommy John surgery, too.
A few days ago Subber10 wrote at The Crawfish Boxes about White (and foreshadowing on Ely) and the recent run of form in acquiring pitchers who then suffer devastating arm injuries. Go ahead and add Travis Blackley to the list of pitchers acquired who then went to the DL while you're at it. If this is a trend, it's a troubling one.
