The Astros have designated Edgar Gonzalez for assignment in the wake of the Travis Blackley trade, meaning that Rhiner Cruz will have further opportunities to terrify opposing batters as they have no idea where the ball is going (if only because Rhiner Cruz has no idea where the ball is going, but it's going hard).
And in the linked piece, we also find that Alex White is in fact going to have Tommy John surgery. I defer to my Neighborhood Doctor over at the Crawfish Boxes, Subber10, and their piece on White's injury/recovery. That's what I get for studying history, not being able to comment intelligently on injuries.
