According to the Astros official Twitter account, the team has officially signed 7th-round draft pick Preston Tucker, an outfielder out of the University of Florida. This means that Houston has officially signed all 11 of their picks from the top 10 rounds. Tucker will be joining the Short-Season Class A Tri-City ValleyCats, and making his debut at DH tonight.
While he took five days past the regular signing deadline to ink his deal, it's a bit unfair to dog Tucker for signing "late." Last year the deadline wasn't until August 15, so even now he'll get about a month more time on the field than last year's last-minute signings.
