Drayton McLane apparently defied Selig's wishes when he held a press conference in May announcing Jim Crane as an owner. Today, despite an earlier report that the vote may not come until November, Drayton said that he thought the sale could be approved in the next 7-10 days.
McLane:
“Baseball is being very careful. As you know, we move at our own pace in baseball. We all criticized Congress on the debt-ceiling deal, but baseball also has its own schedule for getting things done.”
