Earlier the County Clerk asked why Corporan sac bunted to let Myers hit with runners at 2nd and 3rd. Steve Campbell got some info:
Not ready to go to his beleaguered bullpen, Mills sent Myers to hit. Myers hit a fielder’s choice grounder to short, and Michael Bourn struck out.
“I know that’s unconventional, but we were short in the bullpen,” Mills said, noting closer Mark Melancon had thrown 33 pitches the previous day. “We’re trying to scratch anything across we could.”
