So it goes at the Chronicle...
JJO's blog says not to expect to hear a vote of confidence out of Wade (although a contract for 2010 is a pretty binding vote of confidence, if you ask me) for Coop...
The Astros have lost seven in a row, and it's clear he has lost a great portion of his clubhouse's support and with some players even their respect. One player even told me "It's going to be Coop or me soon. Just watch."
But hey, if you're looking for someone to blame for 2009, and the rotation is just too darn likable, listen to this, from Fearless Leader Ed Wade:
"We all have to take responsibility for where we are. I don't think anybody can step out of the glare at this time. We have to recognize that we're all accountable and responsible. I take full accountability for this. I'm responsible."
Good enough? Not for JJO!
I'm going to call bull on that one. Listen folks, Wade inherited a mess. Has he been perfect? No. But he needs time to fix the organization from the farm system up.
Seriously, though, it's going to be at least a few more years before Wade fixes this mess. The Astros' farm system took a terrible fall under Tim Purpura.
There it is. Blame the last guy. Easy. Indefensible.
