Recap for G6, Houston @ St Louis

This isn't going to go so well if the Astros post a .167 WP against the Cubs and Cardinals. But they can apparently only get something going in the 9th inning, not that it would have helped as the Astros made Kyle Lohse look like Juan Marichal in a 3-0 loss. Kaz Matsui singled on the 1st pitch in the top of the 1st, and then that was it until Michael Bourn's single in the top of the 9th. Pence singled three batters later to put runners on 1st and 2nd for Lance - the tying run - who flew out to center. Wandy pitched well, but you can't match 24 batter straight - that's what Lohse came up with. Again, the Astros had no extra-base hits.

Wandy: 6IP, 5H, 3ER, 4K/3BB
Byrdak: 1IP, 2K
Valverde: 1IP, 1H, 1K

Khalil Greene had three hits, and the Cards scored runs off Wandy in the two innings where they got their lead-off man on base. Lohse only needed 112 pitches to make it through the Astros batters, including a 5-pitch 4th inning that mowed down Pence-Berkman-Lee. That's flat-out unacceptable.

First-pitch strikes: 14
First-pitch balls: 12
First-pitch contact: 4

Man of the Match:
The Astros are making it hard to find someone who did well. Let's give it to the only Astro to get a hit in every game this season: Michael Bourn, who got a leadoff single in the top of the 9th to start a rally that was ended by our...

Goat of the Game:
Lance Berkman. 0x3 day drops his BA to .200 and enjoyed 3 LOBs today.
